In my time as a wedding photographer I have seen a lot of puppies at weddings. But when I began photographing Karine & Dan’s gorgeous south coast nuptials, I never expected that Pepper would steal the show in such style! Pepper the Pomeranian Pug was there for every part of the wedding with Karine & Dan and loved every minute of it! From getting ready, right through to the dance floor. Worrowing Estate in Jervis Bay made the perfect setting for Pepper to roam free, but honestly she never wanted to venture too far from her mum & dad. Take a ride through this magical wedding day journey as experienced by Pepper. This was one incredibly fun day!

It’s something that I believe in more and more the longer I photograph weddings & elopements. Your wedding day is all about you! So make it all about you! What you like, who you want to be there, and where in the world you want to be. Dale & Milly (a wonderful photographer herself) did exactly that. They took only their closest loved ones with them on a holiday to Queenstown and eloped by Lake Wakatipu. Then we caught a chopper up to Cecil Peak for some alone time and to soak in the views of gorgeous New Zealand. Everyone wore black and kept their phones in their pockets and were totally present in the best possible way! I still can’t get over how awesome work” days can be!

When I think back to my own wedding day, I still remember cringing when the celebrant had to read out the mandatory "definition of marriage in Australia" statement. I'm a huge supporter of marriage equality, and these words just didn't sit right with me. That was 7 years ago now, and it still baffles me that our country is still so far behind so much of the world. Love is love, and love deserves equality. That's as simple as it should be.

With all the rhetoric surrounding the recent postal vote in Australia I find it heartbreaking that I even get to have an opinion on this issue. Unfortunately, this has evolved into an issue where staying silent is letting cruel and unfair legislation restrict & discriminate against the rights and dignity of our fellow human beings. The fact that anyone thinks they have a right to an opinion on legally recognising someone else's love, something that doesn't affect them in the slightest way, is proof that something is broken. Australia - although this postal vote isn't ideal - we can make a difference and we can make history. So please don't forget to come together in support of what is right and send in your YES votes!

Lauren & Ana flew from Washington DC, all the way to the south island of New Zealand to elope. Their exchange of vows were the epitome of what love is all about, and some of the most meaningful wedding vows I have ever been lucky enough to whiteness. Yes being helicoptered up to this epic mountain top in Wanaka, was beyond beautiful, but I'll never forget what they said to each other and the way it brought tears to my eyes and touched my heart in the most significant way. Thank you beautiful ladies for letting me be a part of something so special. x

Also big thanks to The Elopement Collective for making this special day happen, and to Hello May for sharing their story.

This was one of those epic, magic days that doesn't quite seem real at the time. As I look back over the years since, I realise just how lucky I am to have been there to witness such a special commitment. I honestly can't even believe that almost three years have already passed and that only now am I getting the chance to share it with the world through my blog. Tamara & David chose to secretly elope in their favourite place, Crowdy Bay National Park, looking out over the ocean at sunrise. As the birds rose for the day, the soft hum of a single cello could be heard while the waves crashed below the clifftop onto the rocks. What a way to set the tone for exchanging your marriage vows! After their intimate ceremony that I was so happy I could be an official witness to, we spend the whole day exploring the coastline and all it had to offer. We climbed rocks, walked through thick bushland, found beautiful huts & campgrounds and when the time felt right, we headed to Diamond Head beach & settled in for a celebratory champagne picnic in the cutest teepee that they built and styled themselves. This was all about them, no schedule, no stress, no worries what so ever. True heart.

This day is also very special to me, as it was chosen as the cover & feature of White Magazine's issue 28.

So now you have seen the printed feature, I am ecstatic to finally be sharing the whole beautiful day in full below. If you are thinking of eloping, I can whole heartedly recommend it, and I would LOVE to come along and capture it, no matter where it may take us! Tamara & David, lots of love to you both! x
